Online political warriors for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressive Congress (APC) have been postulating in posts by mocking the popular style of Peter Obi, Labour Party’s presidential candidate’s lean travel to major global destinations to spread hope of rejuvenation in Nigeria’s productive life.

Their mockery onslaught has also got people asking questions.

Like Osa Omoregie:

“So far, I don’t know whether PO’s strategy and approach towards winning the presidential election has worked anywhere or at anytime in the history of presidential elections, but, if perhaps he pulls through then he has opened a new chapter on how presidential elections can be won without engaging the old order, standards, approach and way of doing so.

He will become an instant global political phenomenon to be studied and emulated.

All we can do for now is to watch and see how it will all work out”.

But such a phenomenon has actually occurred in other parts of the world.
It happened in The Philippines, when the mass of people poured out into the streets and chased out Ferdinand Marcos from the presidential palace for killing Benigno Aqiino who was arriving from exile to run for the presidential election.

Ordinary people dared military tanks and ended the regime of the dictator.

The people insisted that Benigno’s wife take his place on the ballot, and Corazon Aquino won by a landslide margin.

A similar scenario also happened in Argentina. Eva Peron’s young girlfriend that quickly became wife, led the bottom up charge from the streets that catapulted her husband from prison to the palace.

Chuka Ken says:

“First of all ,we will never trust people who speak via proxy, its Peter Obi that is running for President and not one surrogate somewhere. PMB has reduced Nigeria to the extent that we are comfortable when people step in unnecessarily for him.

I feel your concern is ill-conceived because Peter Obi has shown us that he has the energy and carriage to evacuate the heap of mess PMB has brought to this country.

As a Governor, did Obi do it alone ? Why in hades do you think he will be a loner as a President?

Eeh?
Why?

It’s obvious you guys have nothing on Obi, soon we will hear that his strength and agility is against him as a President because PMB has made us, to now see good things the other way round. The strength you expend talking down on Obi can be better channeled, we can build a better Nigeria if only folks like you choose to quit being petty and unnecessarily divisive”.

In response to an online opposition writer’s accusation that Peter Obi traveled to the US without a hundreds of dollars gulping entourage, Marvin Omo Osagie says:

“Obi has an army on ground who has by today covered over 490 local government areas, and still counting. I can tell you for free that we are doing everything differently.

Other presidential aspirants would love to do what Obi is doing but they don’t have the capacity to think of grand plans. All they do now is watch Obi, mark his every movement and complain to no end. PDP so used to wailing and what a terrible next 8 years again, that they will have”.

The political army volunteers on ground consists of youths, thousands of them, National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) members united as one family, defying tribal, religious or regional concerns to become the structures for the Labour Party and the Peter Obi presidential campaign.
