Plateau State Govt Rolls Out Program Of Events To Mark Democracy Day

The Plateau State government has rolled out activities to mark Democracy Day, June 12th.


The Plateau State Commissioner of Information and Communication, Hon. Dan Manjang while briefing Journalists today said the programmes of events are slated for the celebration of the mid-term of the second tenure of Gov. Simon Lalong, the Executive Governor of Plateau State.

He disclosed that the celebration has started in earnest since Sunday, 6th June, 2021 with Christian Prayers at the Government House’s Chapel of Faith.


For Monday 7th and Tuesday 8th June, 2021, there are programmes scheduled to feature Heads of Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies such as Commissioners and Directors General of Agencies which are to be broadcast on the Television and the Radio Station.

On Wednesday 9th June, 2021, the Governor will be commissioning, inspecting and flagging off projects in the Southern Zone as the case maybe while same will be done on Thursday 10th June, 2021 in the Central Zone of the State and 11th June, 2021 will be the turn of the Northern Zone for the Commissioning of Projects, Inspection and flag off.

There will be a State Broadcast, Town hall meeting, Special Golf Kitty at the Lamingo Golf Course and a Dinner on June 12th, 2021 which is Democracy Day.

Hon. Dan Manjang hinted that the present government is guided by the 3 point policy thrust known as the “Rescue Agenda”

He further stressed that the present government places high premium on peace, security and good governance.
He said without peace and adequate security no meaningful development can be achieved and it will be impossible for the people to attain their full potential.

He harped on the intention of the present administration to bequeath a legacy of peace to the next administration.


He concluded by lauding the Media for their cooperation and synergy with the present administration.
