The Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, Plateau State Chapter says it has fully mobilized workers in the state to comply with the nationwide warning strike to be declared mid night of Wednesday, 26th 2018.
Secretary of the NLC, Comrade Francis Izam who disclosed this at a media briefing shortly after a SEC Meeting with Union Leaders at Labour House in Jos said monitoring teams have been set up to ensure strict compliance.
Izam says the NLC, TUC and other affiliate unions have decided to embark on a warning strike due to the failure of the government in implementing the national minimum wage.
According to Labour, it had had dialogue with the government on issues concerning the welfare of the Nigerian workers but up till now, nothing positive on the side of government has come out towards the implementation of the new minimum wage, making Labour leaders to resort to call on her members to withdraw their services.
It will be recalled that on Tuesday the National Secretariat of the NLC issued a circular to All Industrial Unions, All NLC State Councils directing them to commence a nation-wide warning strike.
In a circular released by Dr. Peter Ozo-Eson, General Secretary organized labour said the strike is in respect of the non-implementation of the National Minimum Wage.
The strike according to the circular is effective from Midnight of Wednesday, 26th September, 2018.
