In presenting a former senator, Mudashiru Hussein of the APC to the electorate by the governor of the South western State of Osun, Rauf Aregbesola had boasted that his party’s candidate would beat the opposition candidate hands down, failing which, he would shave off his beard and resign immediately.
Well, his worst nightmare just happened on Saturday as INEC, Nigeria’s electoral body released the following results :

Former Aviation Minister Olufemi Fani-Kayode who is a stakeholder in the state has taunted Aregbesola over Adeleke’s victory, by asking the governor to toe the path of honor to shave off his beard and resign immediately.
Ademola Adeleke, a younger brother to late senator Isiaka Adeleke won 9 out of 10 local governments in the senatorial district .
The ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) suffered the defeat on Saturday July 8 during the Osun west senatorial by-election.
Meanwhile Jude Ndukwe who is a media aide to Olufemi Fani-Kayode has stated that defectors from the opposition People’s Democratic Party, PDP lack electoral value. In the aftermath of the change in government, many PDP stalwarts switched camp, including embarrassingly, the former governor, Oladoye Olagunshola.
Ndukwe made this known on the heels of INEC’s pronouncement of PDP’s Ademola Adeleke as the winner of the Osun West Senatorial by-election.
The PDP once governed the State but in a twist of judicial pronouncements, lost it to the APC and in almost 7 years of governance, Aregbesola has served with a monumental lack of distinction, running the state into billions of naira in huge debts has been unable to pay salaries without external donations or bail outs.
The winner, who is the younger brother of the late Sen. Isiaka Adeleke, had 97, 480 votes to defeat a former senator, Mudashiru Hussein of the APC, who had 66, 116 votes.
Mr. Ndukwe who is the leader of the Movement for the Advancement of National Transformation (MANTRA) congratulated the PDP on it’s victory.
”So upon all the celebrated defections from PDP, the party still flogged APC turn turn at the polls” , he wrote on his facebook page.
”When I tell you that a majority of those defecting from PDP to the ruling APC have no electoral value”, some people doubted.
“Congratulations PDP!” Ndukwe further said.
