In this era of confusing and at times fake news as Nigerians await the course of the Osun State election where some “chancers” have claimed that their factional PDP group has produced the much sought for PDP gubernatorial candidate and party ticket, one needs to verify the information in the public domain thus:
Who has received the endorsement of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP national body that by law should send the candidate’s list to the Independent National Electoral Commission ?
Well, Senator Nurudeen Adeleke who ran as PDP Candidate four years ago and won the ballot, then in the judiciary up to the Appeal Court from the Elections Petitions Tribunal but lost via a technicality at the Supreme Court has commended PDP National and State leaders, saying, ” I remain the official candidate of the party”
The governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the July 16th election, Senator Ademola Adeleke has commended the national leadership of the party for its steadfastness in protecting the party’s constitution.
Reacting to recent development on the governorship primaries of the party, Adeleke opined that the Iyorchia Ayu leadership was honest, transparent and fair to all in the handling of the governorship primaries, adding “our leaders obeyed and enforced the party constitution irrespective of whoever was involved.
” The leadership rejected a frantic bid to disenfranchise us. The NWC insisted on due process and tradition. I am a product of due compliance with PDP and Nigeria’s constitution. By law and tradition, I remain the flagbearer of our great party and I am ready with God and men to lead PDP to victory”, the businessman turned politician said.
While describing ongoing legal tussle as nothing unusual, the PDP candidate said those who headed to court and those who filed appeal petitions are only exercising their rights, adding however that ” in due course, the will of party delegates leading to my candidature will be embraced by all.
” I once again call on my fellow aspirants to let us unite to secure victory for the party. Our team is open to all and we promise we will run an inclusive campaign and government in the best interest of the people of Osun state”, Senator Adeleke said.
Indeed, a faction of the PDP who many in Osogbo the capital city aver that the faction is a sponsored one to seek another judicial avenue to retain the government house that election monitors swear was characterized by thuggery, intimidation, ballot box snatchings here and there, contrived destruction of PDP votes four years ago.
“It is going to be different in this year 2022 election. One of the extant reasons is that Jagaban who is the ruling party leader is gunning for his APC’s presidential ticket for the election next year. He would be careful not to be seen as being party to any ‘rough play’ in his homeland, for the backlash might prove to be morally damaging to his campaign efforts”, Isiaka Adebayo in the University town of Ile-Ife told The Oasis Reporters on the phone last night.

Governor Oyetola might be persuaded to run on his four year record, which analysts say, is not so endearing.
Civil servants who were owed wages for years throughout the lacklustre regime of Rauf Aregbesola and were promised that his successor Oyetola would offset the bill have been sorely disappointed.
So if Oyetola shunted back wages aside, what hopes are there that he would pay in the next four years if reelected ?
That is the crux of the matter.
Therefore with PVC in hand, chances are that barring any political rough play, Oyetola is good to start arranging his bags for a trip back to Iragbiji, his home village.
Therefore, analysts in Osogbo understand why the factional PDP candidate rushed to court to anoint himself as party candidate.
But he went to the State High Court, whereas a Federal High Court would have served him better on Election matters.
Besides national chairman of the PDP, Iyorchia Ayu does not seem set to hand him the party flag.

Therefore, Ademola Nurudeen Adeleke would be the authentic candidate. He won before, he’s likely going to win again and the Osun sentiments are going to be with him.
This is also coming at a time that the APC despite putting on a brave visage in the face of monumental lack of distinction in service, is divided between the Aregbesola faction and the Oyetola branch.
