From left, Former Governor of Ekiti State, Segun Oni who later left the PDP for little known SDP; Former Minister Mines and Steel, Elder Wole Oyelese; Alhaja Bose Adedibu and Hon Taofeek Arapaja.
Unprecedented scrutiny beyond the run of play has generally attended the entry of Peter Obi into the hitherto two horse race between the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), and the All Progressive Congress (APC).
Former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, who is the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) has come in from the sidelines as a disrupter that is changing the order of things, thus defining him into a ticked box is proving extremely difficult because his entry into the scene without spending millions of dollars on delegates is at best a huge shock to the concept of business as usual.

Dr. Doyin Okupe opines Peter Obi with the entry of another former governor of Ekiti State, Segun Oni.
He says “but surprisingly, a single man, Segun Oni, joined a very little known political party, the SDP, in less than 6 months, with meager financial resources, defeated the Almighty PDP; with its established long existing & wide spread political ‘structure’, to come 2nd in the elections.
“If it were a statewide general elections, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) would have won some House of Assembly seats.
THE LESSON HERE IS THAT IT’S THE PEOPLE DRIVEN BY THEIR BELIEF AND COMMITMENT, THAT CONSTITUTES A RELIABLE AND ENDURING POLITICAL STRUCTURE. NOT NAME OF PARTY OR EVEN MONEY DEPLOYED.”

Segun Oni placed second, beating the PDP to third place with little or no money to splash like the big parties did.
Talk about the case between a Ruddy king of youth like David in the Bible without armour, facing a well ‘structured’ Goliath that was well kitted from head to toe. David had only his sling. Yet the unimaginable happened.
He won.
Peter Obi joined the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) barely six months before the gubernatorial election in Anambra State and he had no structures on ground. Within the six months, he got nominated to run for office and surprisingly won.
That seems to be the nightmare pundits are trying to explain away but with difficulties.
Events are going to prove themselves pretty shortly, right after the lull before the election fever commences.
