Technology Is The Small Shift Fulani Herdsmen Need To Grow Their Business, Not More Territory

Nigeria is approximately one million square kilometers out of which the entire Southeast is just about 30,000 Sq kilometers. The Southeasterners relatively speaking have little or no land to spare in their landlocked enclosure. Therefore even if they would want to donate land for the RUGA venture, there’s hardly any to spare. So coming to insist on the constitutional rights to live anywhere in Nigeria is undoubtedly right. But insisting on the right to ply their cattle business in its present form, with all the devastation and the security problems that accompany it, is unrealistic and unsustainable.
For instance, it is known scientifically that to produce just one kilo of beef, it would take 50,000 litres of water. But then, how much potable water is available to the people in the Middle belt and southern regions for instance?
There’s also the added greenhouse gas emission, which is 50% more for animals than transport vehicles emission.
Toro LGA in Bauchi State alone is about the size of Enugu state. Toro LGA is 6,900 Sq Kilometers while Enugu State is 7,100 Sq Kilometers. Enugu State in land size is the largest State in the Southeast.
Fulani tribe has been generally known to govern the States in the north that has more land the most. Even assuming the presidency of Nigeria more, on behalf of the north, than any other ethnic group.
The question is, why are they making this desperate push to conquer and occupy the south for their cattle business?
The answer is that cattle needs more grass and water which can be found in the grains and root crops producing middle belt and the territorially smaller south. Meaning that the north is yielding less grass or has been denuded and desertified by the voracious consumption of the 30 million cattle, estimated to be owned by the Fulani. Unleashing them on the south under whatever guise, is bound to lead to strife and death, making the nation, a part of the African basket case that the continued is being known for and ridiculed over, by the entire world.
Besides modernization and ranching, the herdsmen and Fulani leadership can remain in the north, and change the narrative by using technology to green the north, and halt desertification, which makes the world to lose 15 billion trees a year.
The world is said to be losing an acre and a half of forest every second. A company in Australia, Bio carbon Engineering is building an army of 10,000 tree planting drones which fires a tree bullet into the soil, packed with the right amount of biodegradable nutrient rich solution in bullet containers exactly into the depth it needs to go in the soil to plant a billion trees a year. It plants 100,000 trees a day.
Europe and the western world is using the drones now, built by Bio carbon Engineering.
The drone is a way to fight back for technology has gotten to the point where it is making a serious difference. There’s therefore no need to fight for new territories. Killings just have to stop. It is easier to drill deep for water in the north, than in the south of Nigeria.
