After being infamously named for being enablers of bad governance, Imam Nuru Khalid gets the boot from the Apo Mosque this time, for criticising the government over it’s lackadaisical approach to tackling Insecurity.
Just read that Sheikh Nuru Khalid of Apo Juma’at Mosque has been suspended by the mosque for criticizing Buhari’s refusal to visit Kaduna over last Monday’s train attack. We blame our clerics of being enablers of poor governance, here we’ve one being victimized for truth-telling.

Famous Twitterati and government critic, Shehu Sani tweets:
The suspension of the Imam of Apo Friday Mosque Sheikh Nuru Khalid by the Mosque Steering Committee is unconscionable. His criticisms of the Government reflects the views of most Nigerians. He spoke truth to power at the right time.I urge the committee to reverse the decision.

What gets the government agitated is about being called out:
Even their Muslim clerical establishment isn't spared their gag… 🤣 after enabling him for this long

Preach about worsening insecurity & Buhari's ineptitude..
Get the boot…
Buhari adoration over truth telling..
The north of Nigeria is facing acute hunger by the poor who cannot go to their farms, when they are not scorched by environmental issues, because bandits say no.
What agitates them is different:
The only people trending the attacks in Kaduna-Abuja & airport attacks are Southern Nigeria. Not Arewa Twitter in the North. The only time you'll see those ones raising their voice is when they're fighting Allah's battle. You'll never see them fighting hunger battles in the North

Here’s the full gist:
As simply candid as this statement is: “Nigerian masses should resort to only one term which is – protect our lives, we will come out to vote; let us be killed, we will not come out to vote, since it’s only elections that you people know,” it got Sheikh Nuru Khalid into a whole lot of trouble.
And the mosque committee of Apo legislative quarters, Abuja suspended its Chief Imam, Sheikh Nuru Khalid, over a sermon he delivered on Friday.
Sheikh Khalid in the sermon flayed the government over its failure to tame the escalating insecurity and killings in the country.
It was the hint Khalid gave above about some measures that the electorate should take if the authorities fail to protect their lives that brought down the roof on his head.
In a statement, the chairman of the mosque committee, Senator Saidu Muhammed Dansadau which BBC Hausa Service received and which said the committee suspended the embattled imam over his sermon that it deemed ‘inciting public outrage’.
The statement read, “I am informing you that you have been suspended from leading prayers in the Apo Legislative Quarters Mosque from today being April 2nd, 2022 until further notice.
“The decision was taken out of the inciting Friday sermon you delivered on April 1st, 2022; where you advised people not to vote come 2023 general elections unless politicians respond to some critical questions.
“You should have advised them to vote out those that transgress the Almighty and breach people’s social contract as well as the state.”
The committee maintained that Sheikh Khalid sermon negated tenets of Islam.
The committee has immediately appointed Malam Mohammad who will deliver Ramadan Tafsir while Malam Abdullahi will be leading Friday prayers.
Sheikh Khalid has been an avid critic of the government over the escalation of insecurity in Nigeria.
His latest sermon is coming a couple of days following terrorists’ devastating attack on Kaduna-bound train where a yet-to-be ascertained number of passengers were killed and others abducted.
Insecurity has been a blight on the lives of Nigerians, but the worst hit is northern Nigeria, with the governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-rufai threatening to engage mercenaries to curb it, if the federal government abdicates on this responsibility.
