When Nigeria’s ambassador to the United Nations joined the rest of the Security Council in voting against America’s decision to relocate it’s embassy from Tel Aviv in Israel to Jerusalem, little did the Buhari administration imagine that anger would be stirred in President Donald Trump who has promised through the US ambassador to the United Nations, Ms Nikki Haley, that America will “never forget” the slight of forcing her to defend its right and sovereignty to site its embassy anywhere it deemed fit.
At the American national security meeting, the case of suffering minorities, especially religious minorities like the Tivs, Idomas, Igedes of Benue State who are predominantly Christian and other flash spots around the world suffering death and destruction from islamist religious bigots and land grabbers came up for mention.
The United States noted that they were suffering because of their Christian faith in the hands of Jihadists with a hapless government doing absolutely nothing to help them live their lives in peace.
America has therefore decided to aid them directly through the USAID without further recourse to the United Nations, that may not even be informed that American military, economic and humanitarian work would be going on in secrecy in the flash points, reminiscent of the Cold War era.
A retired security expert was of the opinion that all the Benue, Nassarawa, Zamfara hausa, Plateau, southern Kaduna people need do is to document the heinous atrocities being committed against them by Fulani Muslim herdsmen militia to exterminate them and take over their land for cattle grazing, then describe why the Nigerian government is hamstrung in protecting their lives.
