With the cash crunch currently being experienced nationwide as the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) continues to mop up the higher denomination bank notes of 200, 500 and 1000 naira notes from circulation, leading Tier-1 entrant, Fidelity Bank PLC has informed its teeming customers of cash payouts in all its branches.

“Hitherto, cashiers were only accepting old currency cash pay-ins without the new currency payouts insisting on only cash transfers” said Akin, an Iwo Road, Ibadan customer of Fidelity Bank to The Oasis Reporters.

The exercise may have had the salutary effect of throttling Nigeria towards the highways of a cashless economy as it is, worldwide, but Nigeria still has to raise the tempo on infrastructure provision.

Akin again: “I needed cash to buy petrol for my generator as I have not had electricity supply for three days now. Even cash transfers are experiencing difficulties due to high network failures”.

To solve the seeming hiccups in the financial lives of it’s customers, Fidelity Bank that opened it’s arms wide and full with love, wishes to spread it even further. The financial powerhouse will be doling out new denomination cash payments to the customers from this pre Valentine season onwards.

The new cash denominations of 200, 500 and 1000 naira notes have some hidden features in line with new technological developments to checkmate certain dubious activities of currency traffickers and make detection of untoward actions easy to detect.
