Senator Dino Melaye has lost his bid to return to the Red Chamber, information reaching The Oasis Reporters reveals.
Melaye lost to House of Reps member and political rival, Tajudeen Yusuf. The controversial Kogi politician was only able to poll 99 votes against TJ Yusuf who got about 160 votes.
Yusuf, a 3-term House of Reps member drew level with Dino at 88 votes each as at Monday night leading to a run-off.
Melaye consoles himself in a tweet, but it is almost apparent that he is severely pained politically and his short term plans are awry.
I am a winner. My winner's status is not tied to any election. It is my eternal heritage. Dino is Dino. I am very proud to be associated with Atiku Abubakar. A true Patriot, consumate humanitarian and passionate Unifier. Don't make a mistake Dino is coming. SDM

Respondents to Dino’s loss have been tweeting hilariously.
Dino it's only right you do the right thing and be on the right side of history. It's wrong for a northern Muslim is rule Nigeria again after 8 yrs of Buhari. It's only right a southern Christian become president 2023 to balance our diversity. SE presidency will unite Nigerians

Things took a downward spiral for Melaye on Tuesday when the camp of the Ex-Governor, Ibrahim Idris who was backing Sam Aro, that polled 72 votes in the primaries, gave their block support to Yusuf in the run-off elections.

Furthermore, Yusuf is said to be backed by Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike and Melaye was being supported by Ex-Vice President, Atiku Abubakar. Even in the ongoing PDP nomination contest, Dino Melaye has been very vocal in his support for Atiku Abubakar, perhaps using words that other political contestants may find slightly offensive. This seems annoying to Wike who has hidden in his mind the disdain he harbors for the politicians that stabbed PDP in the back and crossed to APC.
Those politicians led by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar went to the APC to install General Muhammadu Buhari as president in 2015, sending Goodluck Ebele Jonathan into retirement.
Wike wisely kept cool, and when the soup in the APC soured, the renegades ran back home, and the wily Rivers State governor welcomed them with wide arms and toothy smiles. Now he’s paying them back.
Dino Melaye was one of them.

Melaye would either wait in hope that Atiku would win, then he’ll be compensated with an appointment, or sulk over his misfortunes, first from youthful Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello, then former Kogi State governor, Ibrahim Idris, and now, Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike.
