The economy of Cow herding that has caused so much trouble, with the morbid propensity of it’s supporters to massacre agrarian farmers in the middle belt parts and the densely populated southern parts of Nigeria, leading to tit for tat reprisals, just for the cow to thrive, has helped in amplifying what the scientific world and climate activists to move against the Methane emissions of the wide bodies animals.

Even though The Netherlands has a decent livestock economy that is not so intrusive and that is well managed, it’s government will be taxing methane gas emissions from cows.

Consider that The Netherlands, for instance, exported agricultural goods with a total value of 123.8 billion euros in 2023, an increase of 1.6 percent relative to 2022.

This is reported by Wageningen Economic Research (WUR) and Statistics Netherlands (CBS) on the basis of joint research commissioned by the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality (LNV).

The Dutch economy is estimated to have earned 50.4 billion euros from the export of agricultural goods in 2023. Of that total, 45.7 billion euros was from agricultural goods produced in the Netherlands and 4.7 billion euros came from the re-export of agricultural goods produced elsewhere.

Among the Netherlands’ leading agricultural exports, the top three remained unchanged from 2022: dairy and egg exports were in first place, followed by horticultural exports in second place and meat exports in third place. There was virtually no change in the export value of dairy and eggs (12.0 billion euros) or horticulture exports (11.5 billion euros) between 2022 and 2023. The value of meat exports rose by 2 percent from 11.0 billion to 11.2 billion euros.

The climate challenges of today is driving this, which is also “creating the economic opportunities for tomorrow,”
Nations are on the move to curb the environmental impact of agriculture and this will put farmers from the Netherlands to New Zealand out of business.

There are plans to halve nitrogen emissions from agriculture by 2030.
According to Bill Gates, “Cows have a digestion (digestive) system that emits methane. We need to change cows and work towards artificial meat.”

As a matter of fact, beef is now being grown in labs and there is a restaurant serving that lab grown meat in Singapore. The meat is grown via the cells of the animal. And it is faster, drug free, disease free and just as great.

The business that Fulanis in Nigeria refused to reinvent and give crop farmers their rights to life and vocation is facing an imaginable threat. No one is happy when cows devastate farmlands belonging to people.
