Early on Sunday morning, a tweet came out from the platform of Festus Keyamo, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) who doubles as a Federal government minister and official spokesman of the ruling All Progressive Congress Party, APC whose presidential candidate is Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Popular Pastor Exposes Peter Obi’s N2B Bribe To Christian Bodies – NigeriaCheck Newspaper https://t.co/pvr2dFHMHG

One thing to be noticed in the blog he quoted was in it’s quality. It was poorly written.
It’s not really the first time that the SAN has been giving publicity to hitherto unknown news blogs. Such blogs he often quotes always carry news that tend to be fake or untrue stories. Well, call them propaganda pieces.
But why would a SAN who knows that there’s life after elections lend his name, position and status to items like this ?
I don’t think Peter can easily part with N2 Billion.Last week we met at the ICC Abuja, venue of the NLC delegate congress, even his front pockets have a sealed cover.

Peter Obi (who cannot even afford to place adverts for jingles) on Channels TV & Arise TV will now pay the church a whopping N2bn for endorsements they give for free?

WHO’S YOUR DEALER? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

There were kicks in the media about the story. Even the alleged pastor who was quoted to have grumbled about the alleged two billion naira came out to debunk the deep fake story. The video was widely circulated.
It's been debunked in a video made by the so-called pastor who "signed" the publication. The fear of Peter Gregory Obi emerging as President of Nigeria is very palpable in their WhatsApp groups. They can see the handwriting on the wall proverbially. I will be there no matter what pic.twitter.com/bzbRSMAYqJ

Alleged pastor in the center of the storm debunking the story. Watch video:
It's been debunked already by the very person they claimed wrote the letter .watch him deny the lies of apc and pdp and he claims he and his family are Obidients. pic.twitter.com/Ts4mSrrg2d

A PDP stalwart in Ughelli, Delta state, Oke Umurhohwo deleted his tweet on the topic:
It has been confirmed that the said 2b naira mobilisations by Peter Obi to churches is fake news. I have now deleted my earlier post insinuating such.
— Oke Umurhohwo (@OkeStalyf) February 12, 2023
A little over ten hours later, the blog has deleted the story in their newsblog with a 404 status, “this page doesnt seem to exist”.
Withdrawn or not, thousands of Nigerians and other global watchers of Nigerian political events have read it.
Now that the story has been deleted with no apology rendered to the reading public, the damage it has done to the reputation of it’s writer and wilful sharers cannot be quantified.

Who would believe their propaganda again?
On the flip-side, without their knowing it, they are inadvertently campaigning for the man they are maligning, and that is Peter Gregory Obi of LP.
Nigerians loathe fakes and damaging propaganda. Once anyone is caught in them, they should kiss belief in their brand, goodbye. The moment trust is broken, it would take an arduous task, if not an almost impossible task to rebuild it.
