Sen. Dino Melaye (left ) has a score to settle with Kogi State Police Command. He hadn’t even entered Kogi territory where Ali Janga (on the right) is the commissioner before he was abducted.

Although, abducting travellers on the Lokoja-Abuja-Kaduna highway is commonplace and huge ransoms are collected by thugs many identify as suspected Fulani militia owing to the language that they speak, their facial looks, mannerisms and accent, this time around, people discussing the Dino Melaye abduction are looking in another direction.

Senator Murray-Bruce took to Twitter about the incident :

“I have just been informed by Moses Melaye,@dino_melaye’s brother, that Dino has been abducted by unknown persons in a Toyota Sienna that blocked their car and overpowered them on their way to Kogi to answer to Dino’s court case. Lets be on the watch out. Will keep you updated.— Ben Murray-Bruce (@benmurraybruce) July 26, 2018

It was also gathered that an eyewitness who spoke to Senator Ben Murray-Bruce, said the armed thugs were driving in a government Hilux van and a Sienna bus. Though criminals have been known to hijack vehicles and use same for their activities.

Dino Melaye, is such an irrepressible gadfly, no politician would like to have as critic or opponent. You ignore Dino Melaye or fight him, it’s always at the peril of the opposite person.
Government once tried to recall him from the Senate through proxy forces, yet the exercise ended in a fiasco and Melaye emerged even stronger, bolder and more trenchant.

The abduction of the Senator representing Kogi West district in the National Assembly by armed men occurred in Gwagwalada area of Abuja. The act occurred on Thursday, July 26, 2018 while he was going to Lokoja to make an appearance in court in the criminal conspiracy trial instituted against him.
