Oshiomhole’s Fiery Rhetoric At Ekiti Guber Campaign Waits To Ambush Gboyega Oyetola In Osun

It may be pedestrian thinking to believe that what won the election for Kayode Fayemi and the APC in Ekiti state were the fine speeches capped by the fiery rhetoric of former labour leader and former governor of Edo state in Nigeria’s south south, Adams Oshiomhole.
Actually it was not. For hunger as they say, is a bad adviser in politics. Cash won it. Fayose who could build a fly-over bridge in riverless Ekiti knew how to use his mouth to move political mountains but was unable to use his brain to lift his people out of poverty.
Having resumed office as All Progressive Congress Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomole needed to score electoral runs to prove his mettle as a worthier successor to another ex governor of Edo state who chaired the APC with a lackluster performance, Odigie Oyegun.
So Oshiomhole pulled all the stops and ran with his mouth against Gov Ayo Fayose of Ekiti state. As an orator and former labour leader who could run his mouth with high pitched rhetoric and emotional outbursts that frightened Presidents, he narrated how he pitied the good civil servants of Ekiti state whose salaries had not been paid up to date, alluding to how much bailout funds had been given to Fayose by benevolent President Muhammadu Buhari, yet workers were not being paid.
That is the insensitive nature of rhetorical politicians. They easily get carried away by emotions, scarcely looking sideways and at the faces of the people by their side.
Or else he would have noticed that all APC governors from the south west excluding Lagos were fidgeting and squirming while they masked it all with sheepish grins.
Gov Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State knew that his set time for bashing was just two or three months away. He probably did not want the People’s Democratic Party, PDP to copy the Oshiomhole act and set him up for drubbing because as a governor, he has served with a monumental lack of distinction. His seven years plus, counting months ahead to complete eight years has been disastrous. Yet such incompetence has chosen his Chief of staff, Gboyega Oyetola for those number of years to succeed him because they believe in federal might.
Aregbesola hardly pays salaries because he has borrowed the entire patrimony of generations yet unborn. Free crude oil money has no hope of staging a comeback into Nigeria’s life and most South West governors can’t grow any economy unlike the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo.
Former governor of Anambra state in Nigeria’s South East, Peter Obi was sterling. Receiving about the same amount of largesse like Governor Ajimobi of Oyo state, he ran his state profitably, leaving a healthy balance sheet for his successor.
Aregbesola is owing workers for years. Ajimobi is equally guilty.
Now, read an excerpt from a Press Statement in support of workers strike in Oyo state:
“All members of Academic and non Academic staff unions in all tertiary institutions owned solely by the Oyo State Government (with the exception of The Polytechnic Ibadan) have been compelled to embark on another round of strikes, beginning between 2 May and 27 June 2018 for being owed between 26 and 8 months of unpaid salaries.
While members of the staff unions in the College Of Education, Lanlate, who are being owed 26 months unpaid salaries downed tools on 2 May 2018 on account that they could no longer fund transportation costs to work, other unions in other institutions commenced their latest round of strikes on 27 June 2018.
The other institutions where members of the staff unions are on strike are Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igbo-Ora (being owed 20 months salaries), Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo (being owed 14 months salaries), Oke Ogun Polytechnic, Saki (being owed 13 months), Ibarapa Polytechnic (owed 8 months)”.
So how do these governors of the south west sleep? And they were at Ekiti applauding the insincere remarks of Adams Oshiomhole!
They need to invite Peter Obi to lecture them on how to run a state profitably and effortlessly.
