Caleb Mutfwang, Plateau State governor.

The One Plateau Unity Forum wishes to express its dismay over the recent killings in Plateau State where over 21 residents of Heiypang were cruelly murdered by suspected Fulani marauders.

This incident has left another sordid tale in the mouth of the Barkin Ladi and of course, Plateau people in general.

As a responsible socio political pressure group that is concerned with the welfare and wellbeing of people all over the state, we are left with no choice but to conclude that; there is a deliberate effort to over run the indigenous people of the Plateau as well as make the state unattractive to investors for reasons best known to the perpetrators of these dastardly acts over the years.

We are therefore calling on the government and security operatives to be as proactive, innovative and inclusive in their efforts and approach to putting an end to these killings.

Government should be proactive in the sense that; they must provide a possible quick response time to the issues of attacks, we say this because we are much aware that security operatives have consistently responded on an average of one hour to attacks and this has been a practice for a long time as such, it is expected that government and the security operatives must come up with solutions to these challenges.

To this end, innovative approach is needed to finding lasting solution to this problem and if government must achieve this, they must be inclusive by engaging the communities and every stakeholder possible as matters of security at this time and age can not be left in the hands of the security apparatus alone.

Lastly, we urge government to ensure proper investigation is conducted using scientific and intelligent approaches. And where suspects are arrested; they should be openly prosecuted to serve as deterrent to others. More importantly, the hide outs and settlements of these marauders and mercenaries should be unearthed and ransacked for lasting peace to come on the Plateau.

We pray for the repose of souls of the victims of this evil act as well as pray  that their various families find eternal comfort.

Long live Plateau, Long live Nigeria!

One Plateau, Equity and Justice!
