Human Virologist, Patrick Dakum Emerges Labour Party’s Guber Candidate In Plateau State

With the clamour rising for equitable development, focus and direction in Plateau state and Dr. Patrick Dakum standing out as the prospect for a possible demonstrable leadership capacity, Labour Party has risen to the occasion by electing him as their gubernatorial candidate in the election coming up in the first quarter of 2023.
Dr. Patrick Dakum who was born in Bwanzuhum-Tilengten in Jiblik village of Lankan District, Pankshin LGA of Plateau state into a humble family is a man who worked his way into prosperity by using his intellect, commitment and transparent character as propelling attributes.
He schooled at G.S.S Funtua, School of Basic Studies Zaria ( where he bagged three ‘A’s) before proceeding to Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and later to University of Lagos for further studies.
Dr. Patrick Dakum has worked in different places and finally emerging as the Chief Executive Officer of one of Nigeria’s leading health organizations – Institute of Human Virology, Nigeria (IHVN). In Spite of the wealth and fame that came his way, Dr. Patrick Dakum maintains an unwavering loyalty and commitment to God, wife, family, state and country.
This is evident in the endless roles and responsibilities he undertakes for the edification of the church and Christian communities. He has served and still serves as the Chairman of the Literature Committee, among membership of various Committees, of the General Church Council of COCIN, yet he still teaches children in Sunday school and leads Bible study sessions in his local church.
In his quest towards promoting peaceful coexistence among Plateau indigenes, Dr. Patrick Dakum hosted a popular radio show in the 90’s known as ‘Home Front’, which sought to improve families by offering free counseling on air as well as relationship tips. Anyone who had resided in Plateau State around the late 90’s and early 2000’s would attest that ‘Home Front’ was a listeners’ favorite .
About his wit and charisma, almost everyone who meets Patrick for up to an hour attests to that. His generosity cannot be fully express because a lot of time he gives with the right hand without the left hand knowing. He has been sending money and gifts to many widows as well as fending for underprivileged children, yet he makes no noise about it.
Dr.Patrick Dakum has always been an advocate for youth empowerment and he supports almost every enterprising youth that comes his way. Through his influence as CEO of IHVN, over a thousand people have gainfully been employed directly or indirectly. More than three hundred indigenes of Plateau have been recruited into IHVN through Dr.Patrick Dakum.
It is also noteworthy that he has contributed immensely through the intervention programs of the Institute of Human Virology Nigeria, by giving hope to hundreds of thousands of people living with and affected by HIV in Nigeria.
He has declared his intention to work towards a greater, inclusive and more prosperous Plateau state on the platform of Labour Party.
