Kenya Wins 21st African Athletics Championships, As Algeria Is Named Next Host

Algeria To Host 22nd Edition
Kenya has won the 21st edition of the Senior African Athletics championship which ended today inside the main bowl of the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, Delta state.
The East Africans who showed class especially in the long distance races garnered 11 gold, 6 silver and 2 bronze medals to bring their total medal haul to 19.
Republic of South Africa came second with 9 gold,13 silver and 8 bronze making their total medals haul to 30 with Nigeria coming third with 9 gold, 5 silver and 5 bronze medals bringing their total medals haul on the table to 19. Other countries followed in that order, Morocco, Ethiopia, Côte d’ Ivoire, Tunisia etc.
Meanwhile the hosting rights for the 22nd edition in 2020 has been given to Algeria.
During the closing ceremony, the flag was officially handed over to the president of the Algerian Athletics Federation by the Chairman of the Local Organising Committee of “CAA ASABA 2018”, Chief Solomon Ogba.
