As President Muhammadu Buhari appoints a new Chief of Army Staff in replacement for the late COAS, Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru , analysts have been speculating on the majority of competent officers who statutorily have to bow out from service, because their junior has become Army Chief.
The new #COAS, Gen. Yahaya, is of the cohort of RC 37. There are, I believe, a good many members of RC 35 & 36 still in service, in the double digits

The media got this message that establishes tradition that 1 Division of the Nigerian Army’s General Officer Commanding (GOC) in Kaduna could stand a good fighting chance of emerging as COAS in the face of any vacancy.

The Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Mohammadu Buhari has appointed Major General Farouk Yahaya as the new Chief of Army Staff.
Prior to his appointment Major General Yahaya was the General Officer Commanding 1 Division of the Nigerian Army and the incumbent Theatre Commander of the Counter terrorism Counter Insurgency military outfit in the North East code named Operation HADIN KAI.
