Students have only recently resumed school after a long interruption due to a previous ASUU strike, and the extended Covid-19 compulsory sit at home that seriously disrupted businesses, work, social life and education for more than a year.
Social media commentators believe that the recalcitrance of the government might be wrong for it would be very poor optics to push students Into excessive frustration.
Significantly, a student surge out in Benin City during the Gen. Ibrahim Babangida regime with chants of ‘Babangida ole’ that ricocheted through out all Nigerian Universities was the civil unrest that finally pushed the reluctant military regime into it’s forced failed political transition program.
It released the chain reaction that forced IBB, acronym for Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida out of power and Into retirement.
Nigeria has had the infamous #EndSARS riot because of pent-up frustration from youths. May Nigeria not return to those trying periods.
Let government meet ASUU.
