“With ISESE now openly approved and embraced by all the governors in Nigeria’s South West, I have always seen all Yoruba as true Africans with interest in their religion”, writes Kunle Sowunmi .

Isese holiday was first held on August 21, 2023, as a way of recognizing the African traditional religions and culture, the way Kwanzaa was rolled into an iconic celebration in the United States of America, to honor the religions of Africa, especially by the African community.

Come August 21 or thereabouts in 2024, Isese may take a more meaningful look, while it deepens its roots to stay in the subconscious of every African.

Banks are definitely going to come out with varied concepts, greeting every customer, Happy Isese Day, and artists with the gift of poetic prose are going to cash in on the opportunity presented, as they jostle to see who has the best design.

Every Christmas, every new year, every easter, every Eid, be it Independence day or Democracy day etc, Banks pull out all the stops without fail to celebrate.

Now they have a new one.

To conclude, here are the words of Kunle Sowunmi, also known as The Oracle and he says that “there is nothing more to hide. We are just who we are, different with our beliefs which were suppressed for decades by intrusion of foreign religions.

“Furthermore, to consolidate this freedom, we need to encourage our lawmakers to legally back the day up with the law of the various harmonized SW State Houses of Assembly that will cover all the local governments with Yoruba speaking domination outside the six states to prevent any future governor with contrary ideas from stopping it.

“I take this breakthrough to thank those in Brazil, Columbia, Cuba and the rest of the world for keeping the light of our religion glowing despite the problems at home in Nigeria. We are indeed grateful.

Happy ISESE Day to all.
