All that it took was a tweet from Peter Obi on the 13th who said, “I would like to celebrate my Very Dear Elder Sister and Director General of the World Trade Organisation, Dr Mrs Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala @NOIweala, as she marks her 70th birthday today.”
“On the national level, she has served, among others, as a finance minister of the nation, where she immensely contributed to improving Nigeria’s financial stability and encouraged fiscal discipline and transparency through her anti-corruption campaigns”.
“On the global stage, she stands tall as the first woman and the first African to head the WTO. She has continued to enjoy the trust and confidence of governments around the world due to her honesty, integrity and commitment to the advancement of the cause of humanity”
Today, she stands as a symbol of success and role model to many youths, inspiring them unto greater achievements, while contributing to the nation. May God grant her more healthy and fruitful years as she continues to contribute to a better nation and humanity. -PO
Nigerians remember very well how Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala got Nigeria out of debt, to which Amina Mohammed said:
“Okonjo-Iweala got Nigeria out of debt, but we are now back there.
Amina Mohammed, the deputy secretary-general of the United Nations (UN), says Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, two-time minister of finance, spent years to get Nigeria out of debt, but the country is now back to worrying levels of debt.
Speaking at the International Monetary (IMF) and the UN working together conversation, the former minister of environment in Nigeria, expressed her worry on the rising level of debt in Nigeria and the rest of Africa”
Another comment from another person said:
”Under Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala’s stewardship of the Nigerian economy, not only did we become much less burdened by debts but we also became the fastest growing economy in Africa. May God continue to bless you”.
Nigeria’s turn of events to the negative continues to worry everyone, especially as it turns out that there seems to be no solution from the crop of managers that we have.
