When Social media activist and broadcast media impresario, Segun Onibiyo was whisked away by the police on the alleged orders of Kaduna state governor, Nasir Ahmad El Rufai to prison, he never imagined that news of the outside world would stream into his ears regularly.

But they did, and from unusual sources.

Outraged over the incident that freedom of the individual was being abridged, Nigerians gathered in solidarity. Onibiyo’s photos became the profile picture of so many social media personalities, which put his name in the front burner of articles, opinion Ed’s, news items, etc.
Offers of legal help were made.
And how did Segun Onibiyo get to know?

The same gaolers were bringing him news of the outside world even though their job was to keep him in miserable prison conditions.
Therefore on perfecting his bail conditions, he came out of jail and sent a letter of appreciation to the public :

#Appreciation

Where and how do I begin to thank you all for the support and show of love towards me and my family while I was in ‘training?’

Even from the mouths of my persecutors, I heard of the immense out pour of love and over flow of support for me.

I’m eternally indebted and grateful to you all.

They said I went to prison, I say no. I went for training.

All my life I’ve asked God for my purpose in life. While in ‘training’, I found that purpose.

God is not unaware that every generation comes with its own peculiar & many challenges.

God never fails to raise men and women in every of that generation to raise His standards and restore order.

Indeed, if a people stand together, they shall be victorious.

Your moral and financial support gave me courage. I smiled throughout my time in ‘training’ knowing I have a family in you all.

I’m determined, I’m focused, I’m ready to continue to contribute my quota to a better country and people.

I won’t mention names but God knows your names like I’ve mentioned in His ears and I know He will answer my prayers and bless you all kindly, amen.

On behalf of my family and myself, I thank you all immensely.

God bless us all, amen.

Segun Onibiyo
