Dr. Patrick Dakum, Labour Party gubernatorial candidate for Plateau State receiving a chieftaincy title from Ndigbo in Plateau State.

The Igbo South East tribal community resident in Plateau State has bestowed the chieftaincy title of Eze Chukwuemeka Ndigbo, on the state Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate, Dr. Patrick Sunday Dakum, at the Rwang Pam Stadium in Jos, as it marked the Ndigbo day celebration for the year 2022.

Bestowing the chieftaincy title, Ochie Ndi Igbo III of Jos, Chief Basil Ibebuike praised Dakum for being a worthy son of Plateau State and a very good friend of the Igbo community, saying he loves and cares for his people and residents of the state.

Responding to the Chieftaincy title, Dakum thanked the entire Igbo community in the State for the great honour done to him.

He said, “I thank the entire Igbo community on the Plateau for this honour. This identification with the Igbo community goes beyond politics.”

According to him, the chieftaincy title has granted him the privilege of stepping into the palace of the Igwe in order to play an advisory role which will continue for life.

Dakum promised to tag along with the Igbo community and be a part and parcel of the people. He said, “I will continue to be a partner of the Igbo community.

“Whatever happens, I will be there. When you are crying, I will cry with you. When you are laughing, I will laugh with you. Whatever you want me to do for you on the Plateau, I will listen and as a title holder in your palace, I will do accordingly.”

He further praised the Igbo for their efforts towards peace building in the state, saying they are doing remarkably well.

While responding to questions from journalists, Dakum praised the Igbo community for contributing immensely to Plateau State economy, and expressed optimism that by May 29, 2023, the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi and Baba Ahmed will be sworn in as President and Vice President respectively, while on the Plateau, himself and Hon. Edward Pwajok (SAN), will be sworn in as Governor and Deputy Governor.

In company of Dakum were his running mate, Hon. Edward Pwajok SAN, LB, KSG, Chief Maichibi Vwarji, some elders and members of the Consolidation for Greater Plateau as well as other personalities.
