Femi Fani-Kayode (left), requested a rescheduled meeting with the office of IGP Idris. This has been granted.

The Nigerian Police has granted the request of former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode in respect of adjusting the date for him to honour an invitation of the law enforcement agency .

Femi Fani-Kayode was summoned to appear before the Police on Tuesday but the PDP chieftain sought for a shift in date to allow him present himself.

Granting his request, the Police agreed with the two demands of the former minister and asked him to report for questioning on September 4, 2018, to answer to a petition made against him by a law firm, Apex Solicitors which was said to have filed a criminal complaint against Femi Fani-Kayode, accusing him of authoring a publication that threatens the security of the country.

This warranted his invitation through a letter titled, “Conspiracy, Criminal Defamation, Inciting Publication, Injurious Falsehood and Conduct Likely to Cause a Breach of the Peace”, to appear before the Police on Tuesday

But his lawyer, Kayode Ajulo & Co. had kicked that the invitation letter was “too vague and ambiguous” as well as seeking an adjustment to the date of the interview due to long scheduled and ongoing Nigerian Bar Association Conference.

The Police in a letter dated August 23, 2018 and signed by CP Habu Sani of the Inspection-General of Police Monitoring Unit, granted Fani-Kayode’s request and picked a new date for him to appear.

“I refer to your letter No KACCL/OR/372/18 dated 27th August, 2018 wherein you requested for rescheduling of appointment in respect of the above subject,” the letter reads.

“Graciously the interview is now rescheduled for Tuesday the 4th day of September, 2018 by 1200hrs.

“You are however to note that, the invitation is in respect of criminal complaints lodged by Apex Solicitors (Legal Practitioners and Consultants) and your cooperation in this regard is expected, please.”
