Plateau State Civil servants have been enjoined to remain committed to their duties and support the desires of the government of Governor Simon Lalong to bridge the gap between rural and urban transformations.
The outgoing Commissioner, Ministry for Works and Transport, Hon. Pam Dongs made this appeal Wednesday, at a hand over ceremony in an address to Directors and staff of the ministry.
The Commissioner commended the staff of the ministry for exhibiting all sense of commitment to duty in the past two years they had worked together, saying they have disabused the impression given to him over their conducts, and urged them to lift the tempo by according the same cooperation to whoever will succeed him.
He said with their cooperation the ministry has been able to convince the Governor to shift attention from urban to rural development by embarking on a 22 kilometer road network in the state.
According to him, the present administration has keyed into it and desires to link the rural areas with the urban centres, stressing that these could only be achieved when both the management and other staff cooperate with government, one to another so as to actualize the dream.
He described the government of Gov. Lalong as a listening one, as well as a unique one, pointing out that “the focus of the administration to rural transformation will place the government high in the annals of the history of Plateau state”.
He commended the state governor for giving him an opportunity to serve the state in an executive capacity and promised to continue to render his support to the development of the state wherever God takes him to from there.
In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Gabriel Mafwul said the ministry will remain indebted to Dongs, for the impact he had made to the ministry in just two years as a commissioner, saying they had a cordial working relationship with him and pray God to take him to the next level.
“Today, we are gathered here for a bureaucratic activity, and as the Holy Scripture states, there is time for everything, we just have to accept it, because “when we heard that the Cabinet has been dissolved and the commissioner will go, we the staff of the ministry received the news with shock, because he has been a very outspoken man and is always frank in anything he does, and we pray that God will take him to the next level.”
