The Baptism Of NNPCL By Forces Beyond Its Control As Nigerian Refineries Start Work In A Different Climate

When the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) started it’s shenanigans over 40 years ago with seemingly internal sabotages and mind boggling inefficiencies which bled the country horrendously, little did they know that their hours were ticking towards a day of reckoning.
Nobody actually heard the latest news of their demands for millions of dollars to do Turn Around Maintenance (TAM).
This used to be a regularly hyped event on radio and television. Proud and haughty technocrats would rub it down the noses of a distraught citizenry when the refineries grunt and die once again despite the losses encountered by the nation.
Well, former Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki and Alhaji Aliko Dangote have shockingly showed them that having a working refinery is doable and it can happen despite desperate opposition.

With a working gigantic refinery by Aliko Dangote using borrowed money from banks, this is possible.

While the switch was being made to the private refineries, without fanfare, the nation is shocked that Warri refinery has started working.
Here’s a message from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu:
The restart of Warri Refinery today brings joy and gladness to me and Nigerians. This will further strengthen the hope and confidence of Nigerians for a greater and better future that we promised. This development is a remarkable way to end the year following the feat recorded earlier with the old Port Harcourt Refinery.
I am equally happy that NNPC Limited is implementing my directive to restore all four refineries to good working condition.
I congratulate Mele Kyari @MKKyari and his team at NNPCL @nnpclimited for working hard to restore our national pride and make Nigeria a hub for crude oil refining in Africa.
With the Warri Refinery now operating at 60% capacity, my administration’s comprehensive plan to ensure energy efficiency and security is entirely on course. I urge NNPCL to accelerate repair work on Kaduna Refinery and the second refinery in Port Harcourt to consolidate Nigeria’s position as a global energy provider.
Congratulations, NNPCL for the unusual feat. But how many Nigerians are cheering with them and who really cares?
But they are coming on stream at a time that Nigerians are setting their eyes on electric vehicles that need no expensive petrol. It’s like clapping for additional land lines in a few cities by the lamentable NITEL before the advancing GSM telephony.
Meanwhile, even Elon Musk is integrating iPhones and Android phones to seamlessly connect with his ubiquitous satellites every where with no one being cut off or out of reach.
So NNPCL, how rich is your reach today?
