The Cold Hands Of Unproductivity In Delta State That Ken Pela Is Going To Do Something About

At a time that Labour Party gubernatorial candidate for Delta State, Deacon Kawhariebie Ken Pela is sending out his happy new year felicitations, news broke out that Governor Godwin Obaseki is pledging to expand the reach of his state owned independent power project to more communities in Edo State, a meeting was ongoing in Warri on the darkness that is the lot of Delta.
I call on all Nigerians to unite our efforts in the journey of taking back our nation from the cold hands of corruption, insecurity and unproductivity. 2023 is a very critical year that will determine the next direction of our nation.

“You can imagine the sheer unproductive incompetence that is the PDP administration in Asaba”, Jude added.
Obaseki had just promised an improved Power supply across Edo in 2023 to spur industrialization in his new year message.

Delta State’s Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has been governor for 7½ years now. Far longer than the Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki.
But do a comparative analysis and see that Delta State has collected more money from crude oil royalties and it’s governor has obtained more loans to the annoyance of Deltans.
Admittedly, Okowa’s government has trained female hairdressers and equally given them starter packs to commence business with.

Even some fish farmers and other artisans were said to have been trained.
But Delta State has no state owned electricity for the hairdressers to work with. Federal electricity is the most ineffective in West Africa, so to speak.
But look at Edo State with less oil money. They boast of an Independent Power Company. They even own their own refinery. Obaseki became governor a few years after Okowa.
What does Mr Obaseki learn that Dr. Okowa has failed to wrap around his head ?
“The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has said his government will, in 2023, sustain efforts at improving power supply across the state, exploiting its unique advantage in electricity to spur industrialization in the state.
Obaseki, in his New Year message, said the government will be creating a vibrant electricity market in the state to allow and encourage investors to invest in generation and distribution of grid and off-grid electric power.
He noted, “In 2023, we intend to exploit the advantage which Edo has in electricity with the establishment of the Edo State Electricity Commission.
“We will be creating a vibrant electricity market in the state to allow and encourage investors to invest in generation and distribution of grid and off-grid electric power. Thus expanding our existing investments in Azura power and Ossiomo Power Project.”
“This year we will continue our emphasis in building the capacity of our young population to find quality jobs in areas like Agriculture, Health services and technology. Hence The Edo State College of Agriculture, Iguoriakhi will take in its first set of students before September this year, while the Edo State School of Health Technology will be rebuilt to meet global standards just like we did with our School of Nursing Sciences.”
See ? Obaseki knows the importance of electricity, to power small scale businesses. Users would pay for the electricity and boost income for the system.
But in Delta, it is the cart before the horse.
Isoko and Ndokwa youths have been shouting themselves hoarse. They even have hashtags for gas turbines in their local governments to utilize the abundant gas resources that are being flared into the atmosphere, to provide electricity and uplift businesses in the state.
They were ignominiously dismissed, or so it seemed, due to non response from the government.
This is the major reason Delta youths are ditching the PDP and the APC ( two sides of the same coin) on March 11, 2023 during the gubernatorial election
Deltans are therefore poised to vote in Labour Party, whether they have billboards that can only be permitted by the government, or not.
Thus, Labour Party is set to upset the pre existing balance, since the candidates of the PDP and APC seem to be the proteges of the same branch. They all descended from the same humongous loan approving tree that is driving the state into debt peonage.
Ken Pela is running on a gender friendly ticket, the only sensitively balanced one in Delta State.

In March, Deltans would troop to the polls for a life changing experience, a way to make the state attractive for it’s sons and daughters that would stem this worrying exodus of it’s people.
