The Heat Is On Sanwa-Olu In Lagos. Those Arsonists In The Spare Parts Market, Unwittingly Damaged His Reelection Bid

Lagos State Gov. Babajide Sanwa-Olu (left), former Governor of Midwest and Bendel States, Brig. Samuel Ogbemudia. Has he tried to measure up ?

When the arsonists in Lagos set the spare parts market ablaze in the wee hours of the morning to cause incalculable losses to the traders who are believed to be largely Labour Party supporters that are from all corners of Nigeria, they thought that they were harming the chances of the Labour Party.

It was easy to guess where, or who they were from.

Lagos is the only state in Nigeria where people from diverse states have governed. Not a bad thing really.

But ignoring the aborigines completely was a wrong thing. How is it that since 1999 till date, governance in Lagos that has produced great governors like Brig. Mobolaji Johnson, Gbolahan Mudashiru etc, now get only governors from different parts of Nigeria and none of them has been an indigene ?

With the raging inferno behind there, citizens are now digging into the records and report cards of the incumbent governor, Babajide Sanwaolu.

He’s doing panicky public relations stunts.

Babajide Sanwa-Olu (left), Lateef Kayode Jakande. Can the current governor measure up to LKJ ?

Like it or not, somebody definitely either directly or indirectly influenced the army to come to Lekki and shoot to kill peaceful protestors.

See the encircled part of one of the findings.

Who ordered the shootings to take place?

Questions are being asked.

The Gubernatorial Battle Of Lagos: Survivor Vivour Rhodes Versus Sanwaolu. Who Would The Cap Fit ?

The heat is definitely on. Folks are examining the four years of Sanwaolu who became governor because the powers in Lagos then decided to cut short the pleas of then state governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, who was desperately begging for the reelection ticket. Even all the APC governors went to see the current president-elect, Alhaji Bola Tinubu, Jagaban Borgu. They reportedly prostrated and begged him to let the then Governor run for a second term. He refused. Well, power belongs to God alone.

Now his choice is facing scrutiny over his conduct.

Burning of people’s homes or shops while they sleep is evil and counter productive. I watched it happen a lot in Kano, a beautiful city that I lived in from 1983, the year that Gbadebo Vivour Rhodes was born. While shop owners were in front of their shops attending to customers on France Road, Sabon Gari, arsonists bore holes through the walls from the back and set all the shops on fire.

The Igbo traders cried to high heavens. It was the same script as Nigerians are currently seeing in Lagos. Accuse the Igbos of one imaginary insult and set their things on fire.

Well, good people rallied round the Igbo traders. Don’t be surprised that some of the good people were Hausas who hated what their area boys were doing out of envy.
And the Igbo and other Southern traders rebounded and moved on.

Why should this same obnoxious character rear its ugly head in Lagos even when Asiwaju Bola Tinubu had warned that nobody should fight for him?

Now, who takes the heat ?

Governance style is being questioned and the underdog is now on top of the building plan as architect for a new Lagos.

Nigerians would see how it pans out on the 18th of March, 2023.
