What Options Are There To Talk About Cheery Happenstances In Katsina? Kidnap Of Tinubu’s Praise Singer’s Mother, Rarara

By the time you delve into the ancient history of present day Katsina, you would discover its rural agricultural life that was subsistence, but the native folks had something to fill their stomachs with.

But that has since changed, ever since the stomping of the once Sahelian vegetation by roaming wide bodied cows in millions and before long, the entire vegetation had descended into a desert state.

The government calls it desert encroachment. And they also thought it best to fight it by planting trees, yet the area retained it’s wide bodied cows and all their attempts seemed far too little, too late to turn it back into the sahelian grassland that it once was.

It didn’t seem to occur to the policy makers to aim for the moon, and if they landed on the stars, it would be a better aim than the small thinking that was even beneath the Sahel plan, to do minimal reforestation.

Turning the region into a massive forest would have been buoyant to carry their millions of roaming cows as well as enough vegetation to give it an ample berth for growing crops that would feed it’s people.

Like one finds in pretty much the rest of Nigeria, there is corruption, unimaginative thinking, hunger (especially in the north), poverty and youth unemployment.

As the Taxi cab that brings you into Katsina city turns into the Motor Park in one of the Kofars, a stranger is usually surrounded by a sea of boys, all with plastic plates in hand, begging the stranger for food or anything available.

This same sight persists if you drive into any of the villages.

That is the time bomb that persists in pretty much of northern Nigeria.

Government unfortunately has shown little imagination in running the affairs of the nation. With so much insensitivity when politicians acquire state of the art cars, approve billions for their pet projects and wardrobes while hunger is ravaging the nation. Inflation is making ordinary people breathe harder than usual in gasps and hopelessness.

Music makers are artists trying hard to earn a living by singing their way out of their circumstances.

Within that scenario, there’s a video of a praise song for the president, just within a year of his being in office at a time companies are leaving the country in droves because the business climate is unsavory for them and people are unable to cope with an inflation that has climbed from the single digit it was under Obasanjo, Yar’adua and Jonathan, to 33.95%, the recipe for discontent would have been set.

A Katsina based singer, Rarara had waxed some music in praise of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Most people would not see that even the singer is just being imaginative in thinking of creating an economy for herself to exit poverty. Singing is an industry that is huge.

The Bandits of Katsina saw it differently.

The much dreaded and hated bandits who have always made life difficult for people all over went to Danja, a quiet village between Zaria and Katsina to pick up the mother of Rarara, the singer.

The nation waits with bated breaths for the demands of the bandit kidnappers. They must have parked their trademark motorcycles afar off before walking stealthily into Danja village and ordered Rarara’s mother to follow them. There were other people in the compound. They picked her up alone and disappeared into the night.

And it is cold all over.
