However, for the sake of sensitivity, we may not be showing the video of the neutralization of the hoodlums in Owerri by security forces.
Residents on the streets of Gombe have blamed the cavalier attitude of seemingly compromised officials under Governor Inuwa Yahaya Mohammed of Gombe state for the early morning attack of 12th December 2022 on its campaign offices situated at Liberty Junction.

A statement released by the campaign office from a temporary shelter in Gombe State, said that they hold Gov Inuwa responsible for the sponsored arson attacks that “breached our fence, and proceeded to set it on fire. They unleashed terror on staff of our campaign offices at the Liberty junction, many of whom sustained 3rd degree burns with multiple injuries.
“Antecedents of Inuwa Yahaya Mohammed indicate that he is a serial perpetrator of violence in Gombe state. He is afraid of being beaten silly at the 2023 governorship elections in Gombe State. Consequently, he has resorted to these gutless tactics to stay afloat.
“Recall that in September 2022, the said Inuwa Yahaya Mohammed carried out a demolition of the same office at Liberty Junction.
“Again, during the flag-off of our presidential campaigns at the Gombe Stadium on November 21, 2022, Inuwa Yahaya Mohammed used his thugs to disrupt campaign proceedings, intimidated our supporters and caused the destruction of campaign property worth millions of naira”, the statement read.
The statement from the PDP Campaign office demanded that the police immediately arrest Gov Inuwa. It also asked the international community and donor organisations to blacklist the governor as an enemy of free, fair elections in Nigeria.
Meanwhile, news organizations in Gombe claim that twenty four hours after the arson attack on the PDP Campaign Office, the state government is yet to release a statement on the matter.
