The Nigerian presidential candidates field has reduced by one as the most visible female contender, Bring-Back-Our-Girls Campaigner, Oby Ezekwesili has quit the race, according to her, to build a coalition against the PDP/APC dominance of Nigerian politics.
While bemoaning the now absence of a female perspective to the race, some observers say that Ezekwesili must have quit due to declining stamina and pocket weight.
This, some add will brighten the chances of the Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi ticket as Oby Ezekwesili’s ticket was chipping away some Igbo support for Peter Obi.

Many however opine that the former candidate’s campaign structures on ground were very weak. She had no real chance of winning. Perhaps her race was a dry run for 2023 or later, when a female presidential candidacy might be looked upon with more kindness in a patriarchal Nigerian society.
