Okowa’s SMART AGENDA And Understanding The Broad Vision By Beneficiaries

Realising that the Delta state government cannot satisfy the job creation needs of the citizenry, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, a medical doctor has launched the SMART AGENDA in the state capital, Asaba.
Recently, the beneficiaries of the scheme were empowered by the governor of the south south state with the requisite kits needed to start their enterprises so that rather than wait for employment to come, they’d become employers of labour themselves.

The Oasis Reporters noticed lucky beneficiaries carrying away their kits of sewing machines, cooking utensils, power generating sets etc and wondered if they grasped the full breath of the vision that is in their hands and their future.
Some of the beneficiaries of the SMART AGENDA have been net recipients of financial inflows of dollars and pounds from Deltans abroad, many, who left the state for greener pastures abroad in the locust years when the military regimes locked down the spirit and prosperity of the usually ebullient Delta people.
Former President Goodluck Jonathan had said in 2014 that over 25,000 medical professionals of Nigerian origin were practicing in the United States alone. The education loving state is expected to believe that several thousands of those practitioners are deltans. Just as they are legion in thousands of other disciplines, there’s no gainsaying the fact that several millions of Nigerians live and work in Europe, the Americas, Oceania, Middle East, etc earning foreign currency.
How prepared are the Smart Agenda beneficiaries in fashion designing for instance to make Nigerian wears of international standards that would stand shoulder to shoulder with the likes of Ives at. Laurent, Givenchi, Levi Strauss, etc servicing the Nigerian diaspora, the international community while keeping the domestic market share as well?
Are the participants aware that most clothing items sent to the United States of America for instance were sewn by industrial fashion designing shops in the Third World like Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Malaysia, India, China etc ?
How prepared are the beneficiaries to participate in the multi billion dollar trade?
These are areas that their eyes need to be opened to for a bigger growth than merely attending only to the domestic market.
