The University town of Townsville, Queensland Australia woke up in the middle of the night and what overwhelmed them was an unimagined downpour which overtook the whole town. Cars and houses seem submerged in water and everyone is panicky.
Watch:
Thousands of people in North Queensland have been told to leave their homes, as the flood emergency intensifies.
Soldiers and police are going door to door, warning residents in Townsville their lives could be at risk.
The Bruce Highway had severed in several places and more rain is on the way, according to 7NEWS Townsville television station.
.
Citizens of the University town are unable to sleep because of worry.

Queensland, Australia is beside the Pacific Ocean; specifically, the eastern coast of Queensland borders the Coral Sea, which is a part of the Pacific Ocean.
New South Wales and Queensland border the Pacific Ocean, while Tasmania is located in the Southern Ocean.
Australia is the sixth-largest country in the world in terms of area and the largest in Oceania.
Most of the rivers like Ross River that empty into the Oceans are simply over flooded. One reason Townsville is in this deep flood crisis.
The Ross River is a river in North Queensland, Australia. The 49-kilometre (30 mi) long river flows through the city of Townsville and empties into the Coral Sea. It is the major waterway flowing through Townsville and the city’s main source of drinking water.
The Niger Delta also suffers from flooding but one noticeable difference between the Nigerian Niger Delta and the Australian Queensland state is in the reaction of the governments to flood response.

In Nigeria, many people are practically left mostly to their own survival tactics while their relatives in high income earning countries send relief assistance back home, in the true fashion of communal living by helping one another.
In Australia, all hands are usually on deck from political leaders to the police, the army, fire service and everyone is mobilized with minute by minute updates being announced on Television, radio and via text messages to those in flood prone areas.
Their evacuation efforts are top notch.
Most politicians in Nigeria who try to offer help seem to be more interested in the photo opportunities to appear sympathetic.
Can Nigerian officials watch how disaster relief is being applied in Australia?
Queensland suffered the last massive flooding like this five years ago. And they keep improving on their response mechanisms.
Nigeria will move into the season of rains in June. In Australia, It begins in January.
