The Cry Of Bokkos In Plateau State: The Middle Belt Is In Crisis Over Cleansing By Armed Fulanis Why Can’t Security Forces Intervene?

The Internet has been buzzing unhappily from Bokkos local government in Plateau State, North Central Nigeria in desperation over the alleged further incursions by Fulani terrorists bent on cleansing the area of indigenous populations who are mainly sedentary farmers from their ancestral lands to make room for the invaders who seem bent on grazing their cattle on the crops and bushes of the Bokkos people.
Reports coming out indicate that individuals responsible for the attacks in Bokkos, Plateau State, between March 27th and April 2nd, 2025, which resulted in the deaths of over 50 people, are believed to be hiding in caves and mountainous areas surrounding Josho, Daffo.
The worrying dimensions to this sad saga is that the security forces are not doing decisive things to protect the citizenry in the region, leading many Bokkos indigenes to flee and abandon their land to the well armed invaders.
Concerns have been raised regarding the presence of Fulani women and children reportedly sheltering in these caves and mountains, with heavily armed Fulani youths and men observed delivering supplies.
Why are authorities seemingly hamstrung to conduct an immediate and thorough search of these hideouts to apprehend those responsible for the violence against civilians in Bokkos?
This is a question flying in the wind.
Confirmed fatalities, primarily of the Ron ethnic group, from the March 27th and April 2nd attacks are as stated as follows:
* Ruwi: 11
* Hurti: 36 (31 buried in a mass grave, 5 children burned)
* Manguna: 4
* Daffo: 1
Search and rescue operations are ongoing for missing persons: 5 in Hurti and 1 in Mbar (Magi), according to
Concerned Bokkos Youths in a report sent to the media.

[… awaiting updates from ongoing search and rescue of at least 5 missing persons in Hurti;

““The people of Manguna, Hurti, Doi, Waya, Shallal and others have been experiencing coordinated attacks by the Fulani since April 2, 2025 leaving many dead, houses and properties destroyed”, came an SOS from the area.
“We cannot even go to our communities again, now under forceful occupation by rifle wielding Fulani gunmen”, came another message from a Bokkos indigene to the media.
“These terrorists have experience and heaps of guns”.
Bokkos is not the only local government under occupation by the armed terrorists, as the same complaint is equally coming out from other states like in neighboring Benue State.
The Nigerian security forces seem hamstrung and unable to intervene, which many analysts say portends danger for the corporate existence of the nation if overlooked.
Why would non- state actors carry heavy arms as if war has been declared?
The armed forces of Nigeria ought to intervene and stop the carnage ongoing not only in Bokkos, but also other areas of the food growing Middle Belt region of Nigeria.
