The US Secretary of State carries out the President’s foreign policies through the State Department, which includes the Foreign Service, Civil Service, and U.S. Agency for International Development.
On February 1, 2017, Rex W. Tillerson was sworn in as the 69th Secretary of State of the United States.

The man will not forget President Buhari in a hurry. While laughing and chatting with him as Buhari said that they always “behave themselves in Nigeria anytime the US Secretary of State issues instructions”, he got a beep.

“Due to demands in the secretary’s schedule, he is returning to the US one day early, after concluding official meetings in Chad and Nigeria,” Undersecretary of State Steve Goldstein told the press.

He knew that he was being fired.
His job was over.
What a stormy career that ended in Abuja, Nigeria on his first official trip to the African continent.
